Sunshine list leaves some feeling the burn

Government claims of living within its means are being questioned, following the release of the salaries of high paid provincial employees.
Last Friday, the names of more than three thousand of the Redford governments top money-earners went up on-line, all of whom earn more than $100,000 a year.
The opposition Wildrose is outraged at the salaries, especially some of the staffers within the Premier’s office.
Chief of Staff Farouk Adatia earns more than $316,000 a year, which is 20 per cent more than his predecessor and also a dollar figure that tops what the Premier is paid and is more than what U.S. President Barrack Obama’s Chief of Staff makes.
The Alberta Director of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation told 660News, he’s glad the province finally has a sunshine list, hoping in time it will improve government accountability.
Derek Fildebrandt added he has his fingers crossed that the publication of salaries will force the government to bring its pay and perks more into line with what’s being offered in the private sector.
Union officials are also expected to bring up the numbers in the hopes of getting more at the bargaining table for their members.
