Respect in Sport program called a huge success

Hockey Calgary reports the atmosphere in local rinks has improved dramatically since parents were forced to complete an on-line program to better educate themselves about the game and what behaviour is acceptable.
The co-founder of the Respect in Sport initiative former NHL’er Sheldon Kennedy tells 660News, a study from Mount Royal University has found 85 per cent of the parents who have taken the program want more.
Kennedy says since its launch in 2010 close to 100 thousand parents across the country have completed the program, including 15 thousand here in Calgary.
Hockey Calgary also reports disciplinary hearings involving parents have been reduced from four a week to just three a month.
