Alcohol could be factor after vehicle goes wrong way on Glenmore Trail

Calgary Police now believe alcohol may have been a factor in a head-on collision involving a driver heading the wrong way on a major southeast thoroughfare.
The closure was caused by a crash between a white SUV which was heading the wrong way on Glenmore Trail and a five-tonne truck.
Police say the moments leading up to the crash were frightening for other drivers, as they received calls from many motorists who saw the vehicle driving eastbound in the westbound lanes on the road between Macleod Trail and Blackfoot Trail.
An EMS official said extrication of the driver took 45 minutes and he was rushed to Foothills Hospital in serious condition.
Westbound Glenmore Trail was shut down at Deerfoot Trail for about three hours, while police conducted the investigation and the road was cleared.
