North and southeast Calgary communities to first transition to community mailboxes

Does your postal code start with T2B or T3J?

If it does, get ready to get your mail at community boxes in the fall.

Canada Post is beginning its transition to move away from door-to-door delivery, starting with eleven cities and towns across the country using the boxes.

The company’s Vice-President of Engineering and Transportation, Jon Farmand, said which communities in our city will be affected.

“Castleridge, Falconridge, Erin Woods and Dover, so some portion of those communities,” he said, adding the reasons why the 11 communities were selected.

“These areas either already have or are immediately adjacent to areas that are served by community mailboxes already,” he said. “The second is that we have to find locations where we have the infrastructure ready to, as well, provide delivery to community mailboxes.”

The initial phase will involve about 100,000 addresses, including the entire community of Fort McMurray.
