Driver flips car downtown

A man escaped with only minor injuries after he rolled his vehicle in the city’s core Saturday night while trying to evade police.
Officers had stopped his car at 8th Avenue and 1st St. S.E. around 11:30 p.m. but for some reason, the driver hit the gas pedal.
Constable Laura Bailly tells 660News they didn’t even get a chance to start actions to track the vehicle by air.
“The vehicle didn’t get very far. We didn’t pursue, it just happened right then and there and we’re not too sure what caused the rollover or as to why they took of from police but there was no pursuit,” says Bailly.
It’s not known yet whether drugs, alcohol or speed were factors in the incident.
No one else was hurt.
