Ringette coach convicted of sexual assault being sued

A Calgary teen sexually assaulted by her ringette coach is now suing her abuser.

Kelsea Hepburn, 24, was sentenced to 18 months in prison after being convicted.

The woman sent more than 1000 e-mails and text messages in 2011 to the then 13 year old, and touched her inappropriately several times.

A statement of claim is now asking for more than $750,000 for severe psychiatric and psychological injuries.

The suit also names the ringette team’s co-head coaches, and the ringette associations for failing to step in or prevent the abuse.
