Human remains search in Banff National Park uncovers more bones

More bones have been found in Banff National Park in the same area where human remains were discovered earlier this month.

RCMP closed Vermillion Lakes Road west of the Banff town site for several hours on Wednesday to do a search of the area.

Investigators had to wait for winter conditions to subside before they could perform a thorough search.

Media Officer Chris Kosack said they are sending the new find to analysis to see if the bones are human or if the cases are related.

“That is a possibility but as of right now we are keeping all investigation avenues open and this case is just being treated on its own for now,” said Kosack.

He said they are looking to talk to anyone who may have also come across these or other bones in the area.

The Major Crimes Unit is investigating but at this point it is unknown if foul play was involved.
