It’s coming!
Golf season is back for another year.
Healthy lifestyle coach Cara Fullerton says one of the big things to focus on is your balance and mid-section.
“For core exercises for golfers, it’s really good to do rotating ab exercises,” Fullerton said. “You can use a medicine ball, that kind of thing. Like lunges with a twist, holding a medicine ball.”
Fullerton adds, it’s really important to make sure the full body gets engaged.
“A lot of people just want to use their arms. But it’s arms, shoulders and core. Of course the hips are involved, the glutes are involved, as is the lower back. So, it’s good to strengthen all those muscles.”
When it comes to training your mid-section, Fullerton says it’s important to keep your core engaged.
“Pretend that someone is going to punch you in the stomach,” Fullerton advised. “The first thing you’re going to do, is tighten up that core, right? Bracing for that punch in the stomach.”
She says no matter what kind of training you’re doing, make sure you practice doing that, but she adds you can work the core every day.
Fullerton also says if you’re still questioning what to do, talk to a golf pro, or a personal trainer.
