Where your Lotto Max money goes

The draw for Friday night’s Lotto Max is at $50 million, including 33 $1-million prizes.
A lot of people have and will shell out for a ticket, but where does all the money that doesn’t end up in the prize pot go?
Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission Spokesperson Angelle Sasseville says it goes into The Alberta Lottery Fund.
“The money goes to support many initiatives through different ministries — it could be from community initiatives like building parks to supporting hockey teams, you name it, there are thousands of groups,” Sasseville said.
In terms of how the money is distributed, she said that’s done through the treasury board during the budget process.
Sasseville also adds the Alberta Gambling Research Institute receives $1.5-million from The Alberta Lottery Fund to support the development of responsible gambling programs.
