New Calgary schools named after Lougheed and Pratt

The Calgary Board of Education has announced which two famous Albertans its new school will be named after.

The new middle schools will be Peter Lougheed School in Saddle Ridge and William D. Pratt school in Rocky Ridge/Royal Oak.

It’s the latest Lougheed honour, who was premier for 14 years from 1971 to 1985 and was named Canada’s best premier of the last 40 years by Policy Options magazine in 2012.

Pratt was a prominent businessman, designing and building Heritage Park and was general manager of the Calgary Stampede.

Both schools are scheduled to open in the fall of 2015 with an opening day capacity of 900 students.
