Poll shows NDP losing support, Wildrose gaining approval

It appears the honeymoon period is over for Alberta’s NDP.

A new poll by Mainstreet and Postmedia shows the Wildrose would emerge victorious if an election were to be held today in Alberta.

Of the 3,000 Albertans polled, 33 per cent would vote Wildrose, 26 would lean NDP, and one in five would vote PC.

Mainstreet Executive Vice President David Valentin says Albertans may be falling out of love with the NDP.

“You know, they are making a lot of tough decisions right now, which may not be a bad thing, you may want to get all of these things out of the way now, and then, have a much calmer three years after that,” he said.

Valentin says Premier Rachel Notley’s approval rating still sits at 50-per cent, though that’s down from previous polls, with 28-per cent of respondents saying they aren’t sure what to make of her actions so far.
