Calgary Zoo summer attendance numbers positive

The Calgary Zoo has been pleased with business so far this season, as the number of visitors last weekend alone topped 20,000, even though there has been a downturn in the economy.

Zoo officials are seeing plenty of out-of-town vacationers and the number of local visitors remains strong.

The Calgary Zoo’s Trish Exton-Parder tells 660 NEWS, variety brings people back more than once.

“One thing about the Calgary Zoo that’s fun for folks is that you can come several days in the week as a lot of our members do and everyday can be a different experience because we do evolve and we offer different things every day, so we call it, every day is a different trip down here and it’s never the same trip twice,” she said.

Parder adds the “Dinosaurs Alive” exhibit has been a big draw and people have yet to see the new rhino and Komodo dragon.

Zoo officials are confident the rest of the summer will be as successful.
