Derogatory vandalism hits northwest Calgary school

Vandalism at a school in northwest Calgary has caught the attention of some in Calgary.
660 NEWS received a call from a concerned cab driver travelling passed Sir John A. Macdonald Junior High School on 4 St NW in Huntington Hills, after he read a racial slur on a school pylon sign.
The white removable letters were re-arranged to include the N-word.
Kent Kammermayer, president of the Huntington Hills community association, said he was very surprised to hear about the situation.
“We’ve never heard that. We have many signs out front and I’ve never seen anything really played around with too much at all, much less using a word like that,” he said.
Another caller to the 660 NEWS centre confirmed he had taken down the letters at the school, concerned by the language.
The Calgary Board of Education did not have anyone available for comment.
