Canadians pay their respects on Remembrance Day

Canadians paused Wednesday to honour the more than 100-thousand Canadian military personnel killed in the line of duty over the decades.
The main Remembrance Day ceremony at the National War Memorial in Ottawa drew tens of thousands of people, who observed two minutes of silence at 11 a-m.
Among the dignitaries who took part was Governor General David Johnston, who said he’s grateful for the sacrifices made by military personnel.
Two of the biggest ceremonies in Calgary took place at the Jubilee Auditorium and Military Museum.
The final Sunrise Ceremony of the year also took place at the Field of Crosses on Memorial Drive.
A special service was also held at 10:45 a.m. alongside the 3,200 crosses representing southern Albertans killed in conflicts in the last 100 years.
