The YWCA has sold its prized piece of land.
In one of the largest downtown land deals in recent history, the organization sold its entire city block of space to the real estate developer, Great Gulf Group of Companies.
The YWCA says the money in the transaction will be used to build a future hub site expected to be finished in 2016, while services at the downtown location will continue thanks to a free two year lease offered to the YWCA by the purchaser.
Great Gulf has not said what its plans are for the site, but a representative says long term development plans are in place.
The price of the transaction was not released.
