Mustard Seed hoping for help with Christmas dinners

With Christmas just around the corner, members of Calgary’s Mustard Seed are hoping Calgarians will help those less fortunate enjoy a holiday meal.
This year, the Mustard Seed identified multiple communities in the city where the need for Christmas dinner supplies is high.
Karen Taylor-Binnie with the organization told 660 NEWS, volunteers spent Saturday handing out over 300 hampers.
“We had a huge demand, and we have depleted our resources in terms of items for the food hampers. We’ve got enough food for about 100 hampers, and then we just really need ingredients for at least a hundred more hampers over the next few days,” she said.
Some items that are needed include canned vegetables, potatoes, ground coffee, turkeys and hams, boxed stuffing, and gravy mix packages.
Taylor-Binnie added that the Mustard Seed will be accepting donations right up until Christmas Eve.
“They can drop off donations at our Mustard Seed downtown location,” she said. “We’ll have receivers there from 7 in the morning until 7 at night every day of the week.”
On December 24th, the organization will only be collecting donations until 4 p.m., and it will be closed on Christmas Day.
