Penguins will start strutting around zoo

A popular attraction is returning to the Calgary Zoo.

The Penguin Walk is set to resume Saturday morning and will continue seven days a week for as long as temeperatures allow.

Curator Dr. Malu Celli says it’s fun for all involved – especially the birds.

“It’s great enrichment for the penguins so we do it first and foremost for them. But it’s great for our visitors too and of course we’ll be kind of teaching people all about penguins, talking about penguin conservation and what folks at home can do to help,” says Celli.

New this year to the walk is the zoo’s newest penguin, a hatchling named Nero. It’s unclear if he’ll make the walk – they’re still waiting to see if he’ll be brave enough.
