Canada to welcome 10,000th refugee Tuesday

Over 10,000 refugees will arrive in Canada by the end of Tuesday, two weeks after the Canadian government’s original target date.

According to the federal immigration website, 814 Syrians are set to touch down in Montreal and Toronto.

Immigration Minister John McCallum has promised 25,000 new residents will settle in the country by the end of February.

Of those who’ve arrived already, around half have been privately sponsored.
