Shouldice Athletic Park Plaza set to open

Upgrades at Shouldice Athletic Park in the northwest are complete, seven years after initially announced.

The facility — located at 16th Avenue and Home Road — houses thousands of soccer, football and baseball players every season. Now, they’ll be able to use new change rooms and bathrooms, while taking advantage of better surfaces and a designated food truck spot. The completed plaza enhances the capacity to host large tournaments and events.

The City of Calgary is hosting an event Saturday marking the unveiling at 10 a.m. with Mayor Naheed Nenshi.
