Medicine Hat wife charged with second degree murder of husband

After police said they would be upgrading charges, a second degree murder charge has been laid against a Medicine Hat woman accused of killing her husband.
Officers were called to the couple’s home over the weekend and found a man suffering from a stab wound.
He was rushed to hospital in life-threatening condition, and later died.
Barbara Holmes, 51, was originally charged with aggravated assault. She made a court appearance Wednesday, when her murder charge was upgraded.
Medicine Hat police say the death is a tragic reminder of the serious nature of domestic violence.
They’re urging anyone who is in, or knows someone in a violent relationship, to call the Safe Families Intervention Team or the Women’s Shelter crisis line.
