Take advantage of the Calgary Stampede and get on the list of local events to meet with potential employers.
That advice comes from Unimark Creative’s Robyn Braley, who says a conversation with someone could result in an interview after the event.
“Get on the list of professional associations, suppliers and political events. (They) are great to go (to) because there are a lot of business people who are there,” Braley explained. “Media events and client breakfasts are great places to see people and meet people that you might not have access to during other times of the year.”
Braley adds moderation is key at the Stampede, especially when it comes to drinking and what gets shared online.
However, he says people can still use social media to their advantage by posting positive things like meeting political figures, which help the career brand.
