Storm knocks out power at airport; causes localized flooding

Delays and cancellations were all over the departures and arrivals board at Calgary International Airport after a power outage early Monday evening.
Just before seven, the lights went out at YYC as a thunderstorm rumbled through the area.
The storm then prompted a lightning advisory that was in place until just before 8:30 Monday night.
Such advisories mean crews can’t access the tarmac so planes are stranded.
Nearly 20 flights had been cancelled as of about 8:45 Monday evening, with most other flights dealing with long delays.

The same series of storms has dumped a lot of rain in northern sections of the city, with localized flooding reported at some intersections.
