Consumer spending down in Alberta

A new report shows Albertans are pinching pennies.
According to Moneris, consumer spending was down 2.9 per cent in the province during the second quarter compared to the same time period last year.
Alberta was the only province to see a decline, as consumer spending jumped nationally more than five and a half per cent.
The report also showed charitable giving is on the rise in Canada.
It jumped more than 20-per cent, thanks to donations to help victims of the Fort McMurray wildfires.
