August expected to be warmer than average

July was slightly cooler and more wet than usual for Calgary. What’s in store for the month of August?

“You look at these seasonal forecasts, in combination with real data from models, the first 10 days, the first two weeks of August seems to be warmer than average,” explained 660 NEWS meteorologist Andrew Schultz. “Not by leaps and bounds, but by a degree or two. Precipitation should be at par, if not less. The average high should be 23.”

However, Schultz also pointed out we’re still in the severe weather season. That means keep an eye on the sky and an ear to the radio for watches and warnings.
