Cochrane RCMP continue to investigate after a body was found near the Chiniki Rodeo Grounds over the weekend.

Shortly after 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 7, police were called to the area where they found the body of a 21-year-old man from the Stoney Nakoda First Nation.

Corp. Laurel Scott says they have determined the death is suspicious.

“He is scheduled for an autopsy tomorrow and the major crimes unit is working in conjunction with the Cochrane RCMP and the Medical Examiner’s Office in order to determine the cause and manner of his death,” said Scott.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Cochrane RCMP (403) 851-8000 at or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 to remain anonymous.
