No charges for hunter who killed Alberta bear with spear

Following an investigation by the Alberta government, there won’t be any charges against the American hunter who spurred outrage over his spearing death of a bear in our province.
According to the office of the solicitor-general, since there’s no evidence any existing laws were broken, no charges will be laid.
Hunter Josh Bowmar caused outrage last week, where he not only killed the animal with the spear, but giddily talked about the hunt and the bear’s slow death on a YouTube video, which has since been made private.
Spear hunting is legal in Alberta, however the government has announced it will introduce new legislation to ban the practice.
Along with the online outrage from Albertans, Bowmar’s wife recently lost a sponsorship deal with Under Armour over the video.
