Calgary man facing several charges after robbery in Ponoka

Mounties say it took spike belts to get one Calgary driver to stop his truck early Wednesday morning.
He was spotted travelling northbound on Highway 2A, just after 2:30 at a high rate of speed as RCMP were responding to an alarm call at a Ponoka business.
They began to follow but the driver of the white Dodge Ram refused to pull over.
A second cruiser carried onto the scene and discovered the theft in town.
Officers from Maskawacis and Wetaskiwin were notified and helped by deploying the belts, finally getting him stopped near the intersection of Highways 2A and 13.
According to the RCMP, he then fled on food but was arrested after a short struggle.
38 year old Jesse Andrews of Calgary is now charged with Resist/Obstruct Public Officer, Operation of a Motor Vehicle While Being Pursued by Police, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Less than or Equal to $5,000, Breaking, Entering and Committing-Business, Fail to Comply Probation Order, and Possession of Break-In Instruments.
He’ll appear in Ponoka court next on Friday, September 16th, 2016.
