Grab those ski pants and get ready, winter thrill seekers now have the first official tubing park in Calgary.
The Acura Tubing Park had a sneak-a-peek Thursday night ahead of its official opening at Canada Olympic Park on the weekend.
WinSport’s Senior Manager of Communications Dale Oviatt says it has taken them a year just to get to this stage.
Oviatt said they were able to make a ton of snow during the recent cold spell.
“It really came together the last few weeks as we’ve been beginning to make snow,” he said.
He says they moved roughly 8,000 cubic metres of earth during the summer time to get the project moving.
“It’s the first of its kind and 20 minutes from the city so you can come out on evenings or weekends and have a good time.”
The facility boasts having the largest tube park now in Western Canada with 10 lanes and 400 tubes.
Each lane is roughly 200 metres in length and there is a 120 metre dedicated conveyor belt to get you to the top of the hill.
Children must be 36 inches to ride.
Its official opening will be Christmas themed and will include Christmas music for those seeking a little fun outdoors.
