Fans flock to BMO Centre for first night of The Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo

Fan boys and fan girls alike let their inner geek flags fly at the first night of the The Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo.
Celebrities this year who have signed on include Alberta’s own Nathan Fillion, Garrett Wang, Jay and Silent Bob, and Steven Yeun from The Walking Dead, to name just a few.
“I’ve had this costume for four years now and I like to wear it every Thursday to Comic Con,” said Zach, dressed as Gandalf the Grey. “I don’t wear it all four days because otherwise my feet would die”.
Shawn and Antoinette came dressed as their favourite Batman villains to mark their second anniversary.
“It’s our two month anniversary so I thought why not do it in style?” said Shawn. “Joker and Harley Quinn are the ultimate duo and we make a great pair.”
Donovan came dressed as Logan or Wolverine.
“Last year was my first year. I’ve been to a couple in Seattle and Kelowna but this one’s my favourite,” he said.
Calgary Expo continues till Sunday.
There’s an “After-Expo” party lined up for Friday night where James Marsters of Buffy the Vampire Slayer fame will perform.
