A man has been rushed to hospital in serious, but non-life threatening condition after being shot by a police officer at a 7-Eleven in the southwest Calgary community of Glamorgan.
Calgary police say they were called to the convenience store in the 4600 block of 37 Street S.W. at 8:10 p.m. Friday for reports of a man with a knife acting erratically.
When they arrived, they contained the building but the situation escalated, resulting in the officer shooting the man.
Karen told 660 NEWS she and the five other people in the store had no idea anything was going on when two police officers arrived and told them to leave because there was a man in the back of the store with a knife.
Several more officers showed up shortly thereafter.
Firefighters were also called out to deal with a fire inside the 7-11.
ASIRT is now investigating the incident.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the Calgary Police Service non-emergency line at 403-266-1234.
