Calgary police officer charged with uttering threats

The Calgary Police Service has announced an officer has been charged with uttering threats, following a domestic dispute.

The name of the officer is not being released. The CPS said the name will not be released to protect the privacy of the victim.

All they will reveal is that the member is an 11-year veteran and is on leave for an unrelated reason. His employment status has not changed.

The RCMP is leading the investigation into the incident on Sunday (Feb. 18).

Calgary police said information is being released in the interest of public transparency and the officer has the right to a fair trial. He is being offered the appropriate supports during the court process.
