Environment Canada has lifted a special air quality statement in place for six days in Calgary.
This may be the beginning of relief for some, but the Air Quality Health Index is set to hit 5 or Moderate Risk Monday, so its recommended Calgarians stay cautious about the smoke.
Meteorologist Andrew Schultz from City’s Breakfast Television said the jet stream is allowing a bit of a break for now, but it may not last.
“(It) Looks like it starts to move a little further into our region late on Tuesday and into Wednesday. So, I would certainly not sit here and tell you that we’re done with the smoke for the season, but it’s certainly nice to have a break,” he said.
The statement had been in place since August 14.
