Calgary Police Tactical Unit removes suspicious package near the Peter Lougheed Centre

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – The Peter Lougheed Centre was partially evacuated and police investigated a suspicious package starting at around 10:00 a.m. Thursday.
The package was found near 32nd Ave and 34th St NE.
660 NEWS Reporter Tom Ross was at the scene and described what he was seeing.
“It’s behind a strip mall across an alley from the Peter Lougheed Centre and there are several businesses blocked off in this area as well. Nobody is allowed in the parking lot, pedestrians are being diverted as well. There are lots of police and fire crews on scene,” Ross said.
The area is expected to return to normal activity.
Police have not yet released what the suspicious package was but do describe it as “inert”.
