Autopsy scheduled for woman found dead at motel in northwest

CALGARY (660 NEWS) — An autopsy is scheduled today on a woman who was found dead in a northwest motel on the morning of Dec. 21.
Calgary police have arrested a man in connection to the incident. Clifton Spotted Eagle is charged with second-degree murder in the case, and police said the victim and suspect knew each other.
Around 7:00 a.m. Friday morning, police responded to a report of a suspicious death at the Red Carpet Inn on 16 Avenue.
When they arrived the woman was found without vital signs in one of the rooms.
Katherine McVeigh was staying in a room next door to the victim when the incident occurred.
“She’s a friend of mine, we stay at the drop-in centre downtown and every month people will come because it’s a cheap hotel,” she said.
With the police and media presence at the hotel, she said it’s “definitely overwhelming.” “I mean we haven’t had any problems here before.”
An autopsy has been scheduled for Monday, Dec.24.
