Calgarian wins $7 million lotto prize

Calgary’s newest multi-millionaire could use the money to buy a new set of glasses.
Khalid Ahmad won $7 million in the Daily Grand drawing from early April.
He checked his ticket with the Lotto Spot app and then pulled out a magnifying glass to count all the zeroes to be sure what he was seeing.
“I was shocked when I saw it said, ‘Winner, winner, winner,’” he said. “I took good care of the ticket to make sure it didn’t get damaged or wet.”
“I was excited and I honestly couldn’t sleep through the night after that.”
As for what he will do with the winners, Ahmad says he’s always wondered what Paris looks like and plans to help his daughters and son secure their future. He also plans to do “Umrah,” an Islamic pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia.
Ahmad bought the winning ticket at Jerry’s convenience store in Saddletowne.
