Homeowner escapes unscathed after two-alarm house fire in Springbank Hill

CALGARY (660 NEWS) — The homeowner of a two-storey house that caught fire in the southwest end of the city managed to escape before the blaze spread.
According to Bruce Barrs, the battalion chief with Calgary Fire, the man is uninjured. Fire crews ensured the fire did not spread to surrounding homes in the area.
Crews responded just after 5 a.m. to a two-alarm blaze at a century-old home on Elkton Drive in the community of Springbank Hill.
Over 10 fire trucks were deployed along with a large contingent of emergency services. An investigator is at the scene to assess the cause of the fire. The cost of the damage is unknown at this time.
The fire, which is believed to have started in a second flood bedroom, was brought under control at approximately 7:20 a.m.
