Newly renovated McCall Lake Golf Course opens 9-hole preview

CALGARY (660 NEWS) — Grab your clubs and get ready to hit the links at McCall Golf Lake Golf Course.
The newly renovated course is offering a nine-hole sneak peek starting on Friday.
Over the last year, the golf course has received extensive upgrades to improve playability, safety, accessibility, and playing experience.
“The strategic hazards such as bunkers, were in the wrong location given the kind of equipment people use today, they could easily out drive those hazards and sort of make them irrelevant,” said Greg Shymanski, golf course operations lead, City of Calgary.
They also wanted the course to appeal to a wide range of golfers.
“We used an initiative that’s gaining a lot of popularity, it’s called the play it forward-initiative. So we have five golf tees at each hole, which gives you a really big cross section of opportunity for lengths of any golfer coming on,” Shymanski said.
All 18 holes are expected to be open in June.
