CALGARY (660 NEWS) — Calgary police say the deaths of two people on Stoney Trail in the northwest on Friday was a murder-suicide.
Police were called to the area around Stoney and Nose Hill Drive around 9 a.m. where they found a woman in her 70s dead in a vehicle and a man in his 50s on the river bank below the bridge.
Investigators say it is clear the man, who was the woman’s son, killed her and then committed suicide.
They believe it to be domestic in nature, adding they have never dealt with the family in relation to domestic matters before.
This is Calgary’s 12th homicide of the year, six of which have been domestic-related.
