Calgary police officer convicted after assault on hancuffed man

CALGARY – (660 NEWS) A Calgary police officer has been relieved of his duties with pay following a court ruling.

Cst. Trevor Lindsay was convicted Friday of aggravated assault for an arrest he made on duty in 2015.

A video of the arrest shows Lindsay punching a man several times before throwing him to the ground.

Daniel Haworth suffered a brain injury and a fractured skull as a result.

In a statement, CPS said an investigation is ongoing and once complete, the chief constable will decide how to proceed.

Several actions may be taken with dismissal of a police officer being the most serious.
