MRU eliminates 5 jobs, merges departments following budget cuts

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – More job cuts are coming to Calgary following provincial budget cuts to education.

Mount Royal University has eliminated five positions in the Student Affairs and Campus Life department.

In an email obtained by 660 NEWS, the SACL is being merged into Academic Affairs.

“Mount Royal University is eliminating positions as part of an overall process to reduce costs. These are difficult decisions but we must adjust while preserving the quality of students’ programs and services and ensuring access for Alberta learners,” reads a statement from the university.

The email says the school remains committed to supporting students to achieve their academic and personal goals.
