It’s the busiest time of year at YYC

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – The Calgary Airport is preparing for its busiest time of the year.

Nearly one million people are expected to come through the gates at YYC between now and Jan. 5–an average of over 47,000 travellers per day.

The airport expects the busiest day of all to be Dec. 20, with an estimated 50,000 people arriving and departing.

Vice President of Operations at the Calgary Airport Chris Miles said if you’re travelling over the holidays make sure you’re prepared.

“We advise guests travelling through YYC to check with your airline before leaving and confirm travel times, arrive early and leave extra time to get to and through the airport. We’ve added security screening lines, expanded parking options and refreshed eating and shopping options.”

Miles adds the airport has introduced a centralized de-icing program to keep flights on schedule in cold weather.

A fifth security screening point has been added at Concourse B and the expanded parking options include spaces for electric vehicles complete with charging stations.

Finally, airport staff encourages you to check in ahead of time to make sure your flight goes as planned.
