Lime closes 12 markets globally, service remains active in Canada

CALGARY (660 NEWS) — Lime has been accepted with open arms in most of the 120 cities it has integrated itself in. Helping make trips to work, city-viewing, and just-for-fun rides across the city .. fun.
In most cities, Lime Bikes were the first testing of the waters, seeing how people would accept the bike rental service. Then came the e-scooters.
Lime says that micromobility has been accepted in almost all the cities its been integrated into, unfortunately for some, their time with Lime has come to an end.

Lime announcing Thursday 12 cities will see their services come to an end due to a lack of use.
Of those cities, 4 are in the United States, 1 in Europe, and 7 in Latin America. Surprisingly, no Canadian cities were affected.
U.S. cities include San Diego, Atlanta, Phoenix and San Antonio. Linz, Austria in Europe. Bogotá, Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Lima, Puerto Vallarta, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo in Latin America.

The move will result in about 14 per cent of its workforce to be laid off.
“These market closures have an effect not just on riders, but on our whole Lime community.” Lime CEO Brad Bao said. “To our full-time and temporary employees and our Juicers, many of whom have been with us every step of the way – thank you.”
Bao added Lime is continuing to work on its long term goal which is to change the way we move and live in cities across the world.
