CALGARY (660 NEWS) – Brewers and bar owners are stepping up to help a local competitor after burst pipes flooded both the city’s Pig & Duke locations.
Gerry Forbes, part-owner of Bookers Crab Shack is organizing a fundraiser for the owners of the Pig & Duke pubs, Steven and Joanne Lowden.
Forbes says Steven Lowden has also lent a helping hand.
“He’s such a great guy. He’s helped with a bunch of charities that I do. He’s raised thousands and thousands of dollars for Give a Mile which is a charity where you fly people in when someone is sick or dying,” said Forbes.

Forbes explains he made a call to other breweries and bar owners to see if they would help with the fundraiser.
“Why not call all the beer guys… and put the word out and see if they can all come in and help. We had a meeting yesterday with about 25 different people and got it all put together.”
The fundraiser is taking place on Feb. 8 at the Township Bar and Grill in downtown.
Tickets are $25 and all the proceeds go into the pockets of the staff who will be out of work during repairs.
