City unveils possible designs for Green Line LRT

CALGARY (660 NEWS) — The City of Calgary has released a set of images, showing off some possible designs for the Green Line LRT project.

The City is currently exploring different ideas for bridges that will cross the Bow River and Prince’s Island Park.

None of the designs are final, and the Green Line Team says they will outline their process when presenting their recommendation for the updated Stage 1 alignment at the April 23 Green Line Committee.

The Team adds if their recommendation is approved, they will engage Calgarians to get their opinions on the project.

BRIDGE POSSIBILITIES

This bridge has a design that stands out more due to a longer span over the Bow River with a vertical pillar that extends above the bridge structure to provide support through cables attached to it.

This design is a simpler bridge structure than the other options and has a regular separation of bridge pillars which does not change going over the Bow River.

This vision has a unique pillar design in a v-shape that allows for smaller bridge structure thickness. It would provide a regular separation of bridge pillars which does not change going over the Bow River.
