Chuckwagon season delayed due to COVID-19

With the full impact of COVID-19 still unknown, the World Professional Chuckwagon Association has pushed back the start of the chuckwagon racing season.

The first four events on the schedule have been postponed: the Grande Prairie Stompede, High River Guy Weadick Days, Prairieland Park in Saskatoon and the Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede.

They say the decision was made in the interest of health and safety for horses and humans, and the decision was not made lightly.

A decision on the Calgary Stampede has not yet been made, with the Stampede the sixth stop on the WPCA tour. Organizers said their planning activities have been put on hold since the City of Calgary banned public events until at least the end of June.
