Shisha Bar shuts down for breaking public health orders

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – Another Calgary restaurant has closed for offering service during the pandemic.

According to Alberta Health Services (AHS), Mount Royal Pita on 52 Street NE was caught serving customers in the dining room and offering shisha service.

A health inspector discovered pipes that were still warm and there was smoke in the air.

The restaurant has been ordered to close and the owner faces an AHS review hearing and a potential fine.

Since the public health orders were enacted in March, four Calgary restaurants have been ordered to close for breaking the rules along with a beauty salon and two hair cutting businesses in Strathmore.
