Man charged in fatal shooting in Eau Claire

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – Calgary police have arrested and charged a man following a fatal shooting in Eau Claire on Friday.

Police were called to Eau Claire Market in the city’s southwest that night for reports of shots being fired where they found a man dead in an underground parkade.

On Saturday, a man was arrested in Calgary while a house in the Airdrie community of Hillcrest was searched as part of the investigation.

Homicide investigators believe this was a targeted attack with connections to drug trafficking.

Police have now charged 26-year-old Abdullahi Barakobe with second-degree murder and kidnapping using a firearm.

Investigators are still looking for other suspects in the case, along with a white Mercedes car seen at the time of the shooting.
