The City of Calgary will make an announcement Thursday morning that will be attended by the president of Montreal-based company Communauto.

Last September, Car2Go announced it was ending service in Calgary on Oct. 31, 2019.
The company, which rebranded itself under the name ShareNow also pulled out of all North American markets in February.

“The transportation market is highly volatile, especially in North America,” the company said at the time.
“We are certainly not the only transportation player – from traditional automakers to ride-hail giants to micro-mobility disrupters, who have had to face this reality and adjust course. Ultimately, we know that in order to ensure the future of our business in North America, we have to think differently about where and how we operate.”
The announcement with Communauto is set to begin at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the Festival Market on Barclay Parade SW.
