Woman wanted after Ponoka kidnapping and robbery stemming from online relationship

PONOKA – Two men have been arrested for a beating, kidnapping, and robbery, while a woman has been charged but not found. The situation stems from an online relationship.

A 22-year-old Slave Lake man who was involved with online communication with Amber Knickle, 22, met up with her early in the morning on Sept. 7, according to police. They had been speaking for a year but had not met.

When the man got into her vehicle that night in Ponoka, two men inside the vehicle allegedly beat him, while armed with a gun. Over the course of the night, police say the two men and woman drove him to several banks and forced him to take out money. They stole his truck and cellphone, and dropped him off in Blackfalds. Ponoka RCMP were alerted of the incident around 4:30 a.m.

Ponoka RCMP coordinated intelligence with Red Deer and Blackfalds RCMP to find the suspects. Jared Michael Mcleod, 26, and Chasetin Jon Arthur Morin, 25 are both charged with robbery, kidnapping, and assault with a firearm. RCMP are still searching for Knickle, who has been charged with robbery, has a warrant out for her arrest and police are asking the public for any information they might have.

On Sept. 16 at 11:58 a.m., the Central Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit located a stolen vehicle in Gasoline Alley, and with assistance from Blackfalds RCMP, arrested Mcleod and Morin, who were both in the vehicle. A search by RCMP led to the recovery of an imitation firearm, a loaded shotgun, ammunition, methamphetamine, and at least 61 pieces of stolen identity documents.

Morin was wanted on an arrest warrant out of Red Deer for another incident involving fleeing from police in the victim’s stolen truck.

Knickle is described as 5’3”, 119 pounds with blonde hair and green eyes. She has an unknown tattoo on one of her fingers.
