EDMONTON (660 NEWS) – Parents are getting a heads up from Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health that the province is changing the way it notifies them of possible COVID-19 contact in schools.

Dr. Deena Hinshaw tweeted ahead of her 3:30 p.m. news conference says Alberta Health Services will begin testing a new way of notifying parents of their children coming into contact with a case of COVID-19.

She says parents will be sent an email instead of receiving a phone call.

Parents will get immediate notice and AHS can share detailed written instructions on the steps they need to take.

AHS also updated information on what to do if your child feels unwell or has been notified of close contact with someone who has tested positive.
